Information on this site assists individuals with developmental disabilities, families, providers, advocates and interested people to learn about area boards and become better informed on issues affecting persons with developmental disabilities at the state and national level.

AUTISM RESEARCH INSTITUTE
ARI is primarily devoted to conducting research and to disseminating the results of research on the causes of autism and on methods of preventing, diagnosing and treating autism and other severe behavioral disorders of childhood. They provide information based on research to parents and professionals throughout the world.

AUTISM SPEAKS
Autism Speaks is dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism; to raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society; and to bringing hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder. They are committed to raising the funds necessary to support these goals.

AUTISM TISSUE PROGRAM
The Autism Tissue Program is a joint effort of the Autism Society of America (ASA) Foundation, the National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) and the M.I.N.D. (Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders) Institute at the University of California, Davis. These organizations are determined to understand autism spectrum disorders by providing approved scientists access to the most fundamental, rare, precious and most necessary of resources; human brain tissue. Their national outreach program makes families aware of the need for this Gift of Hope.

CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF AUTISM
The Center provides information about autism to parents and professionals, and conducts research on the efficacy of various therapeutic interventions.

CURE AUTISM NOW
The Cure Autism Now Foundation is a non-profit organization of parents, clinicians, and scientists dedicated to finding effective biological treatments, prevention, and a cure for autism and related disorders.

DEPARTMENT OF MANAGED HEALTH CARE
The Department of Managed Health Care regulates all HMOs and other health plans in California , including Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield PPOs. When consumers experience problems with their health plan they can contact the Department for assistance.

We realize that patients within the autism spectrum must have access to early, appropriate and intensive interventions with treatment and therapies. We encourage you to contact the HMO Help Center if you have been denied medical care or are dissatisfied with your health plan’s decision.

EASTER SEALS

Easter Seals programs across the country provide a wide variety of interventions that help individuals of all abilities, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Easter Seals currently has a combination of services specifically targeting individuals with the diagnosis of ASD as well as other services that include individuals with ASD among their service recipients.
